Qstar HSM is the primary hierarchic management storage software which manages optical disk,CD,DVD, and tape jukeboxes. In addition it manages your magnetic disk systems (RAID). To users the integral volume seems like a standard magnetic disk with unlimited storage capacity. It is completely compatible with existing applications and on UNIX based platforms, it may be NFS (Network File System) mounted by the systems administrator. Integral volumes can also be completely offline, such as volumes that contain infrequently accessed data. Qstar manages all of the media in the integral volume as a single unit and knows the location of all files and media, including those that are off line.

Qstar Data Director increases the power and flexibility of Qstar HSM by providing specialized disaster recovery software. Data Director adds the ability to do real-time mirroring,automatic failover and resynchronization of data.

Qstar Data Director introduces data storage resilience to local and wide area networks in the form of data duplication (mirroring) across multiple archive mediums. This software is a high performance and economical method of maintaining hot standby data storage while minimizing the vulnerability of data to loss. Standards Based Formats
QStar's CD/DVD Axxess supports the ISO 9660 standard together with Rock Ridge and Microsoft extensions as well as the Universal Disk Format (UDF). This ensures that long file name support and compatibility are available in a variety of operating environments.
Multi Disk Sets
By allowing multiple CDs or DVDs to be grouped together, a reduced number of mount points or drive letters are required. Within a disk set, each CD or DVD may be seen as a sub-directory, or they may be grouped within sub-directories.
Full Directory Caching
By caching the directory structures of all of the CDs and DVDs, performance is increased by eliminating the need to repeatedly access the jukebox. Directory caching of disks provides off-line data management for CDs and DVDs, which can then be removed from the jukebox.
Full Media Caching
QStar Axxess can cache an entire CD or DVD if required; meaning the disk no longer has to reside in the jukebox for the data to be available to the users. This feature may be used for individual disks or by default on all of them.
Set Management
CDs and DVDs may be added and removed from disk sets while the set is mounted. When using off-line volume management, QStar Axxess will prompt for media to be added and removed from jukeboxes as needed

CD/DVD Master product works across the network allowing both System Administrators and privileged clients to harness the power to manage more than just the standalone CD/DVD-R writer. With QStar's CD/DVD Master product, users get the ability to manage hundreds or thousands of CD/DVDs, with ease, through an intuitive GUI and advanced management tools. QStar's CD/DVD Master software combines all of the great features offered in the QStar CD/DVD Axxess product with the ability to intelligently write and group CD/DVD-R media within sets.

API, Application Program Interface, facilitates a path to integrate front-end applications with the QStar software. Whether trapping error messages or issuing low-level jukebox calls, QStar API provides the catalyst between the softwares.
