PoINT Jukebox Manager V5.0

CD, DVD and MO have been established as media for archiving, distribution, duplication and secondary storage. These optical technologies are based upon international standards which ensure compatibility and long-term availability. CD, DVD and MO media used in combination with jukeboxes provide high capacity storage solutions and they fulfill today's high demand for data storage. PoINT Jukebox Manager is a sophisticated jukebox server software designed to manage all types of optical jukeboxes (CD, DVD and MO), disc changers and towers in a networked environment.

Concept

PoINT Jukebox Manager offers transparent drive letter access to jukeboxes in a networked environment. Integration into the Windows operating system kernel ensures seamless support for network clients. The enhanced security and permission control of Windows is also active for the shared jukebox file system. Due to its multi-threaded implementation PoINT Jukebox Manager allows multiple users to access the jukebox simultaneously and to record different data streams to different media in parallel. Volume Set and File Spanning functionality offers data storage possibilities for a huge field of applications.

AppCon

PoINT Jukebox Manager introduces a new mechanism to integrate jukebox functionality into a standard application. A "PoINT AppCon", or Application Connector, is implemented as an extension for PoINT Jukebox Manager especially designed for selected applications. Requirements for CD/DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM and MO access:

Windows NT/2000/XP operating system requirements plus additional 32 MB RAM
2 MB hard disk space per 1 GB of storage capacity for the directory cache plus extra space for the data cache

Additional requirements for CD-R/DVD-R configurations:

400 MHz Pentium based system
OS requirements plus additional 96 MB RAM
Dedicated hard disk (access time and data throughput depend on number and type of configured CD-R/DVD-R drives)
PCI bus master SCSI controller
Dedicated SCSI bus for up to four CD-R drives or one DVD-R drive.

PoINT Archiver

PoINT Archiver is a Windows Server application designed to provide a secure and cost effective process to identify, monitor and archive relevant data in a network. The content of defined network folders is monitored by PoINT Archiver. Files contained within these monitored folders are classified for migration to the archive based upon defined filters, which can be configured according to individual requirements. PoINT Archiver periodically monitors these network folders and copies or moves files to removable optical media according to the defined filters. Migration of the filtered files and directories to optical media is performed without any user interaction using robotically-controlled CD/DVD/BD publishing systems for recording and label printing.

The PoINT Archiver supports standardized, durable and economical optical drives and media (CD, DVD and BD). If the standardized UDF file system is used, the data can also be accessed in single drives under virtually every operating system (Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac OSX). PoINT Archiver Version 1.0 supports the following technologies:
