Euroson America Announces Release Update to Version 5.0 of PoINT™Jukebox Manager

Latest Version improves performance and reliability, adds new Device & technology support

FOSE, Washington DC, March 2006 — Euroson America, Inc. the exclusive distributor of PoINT Software & Systems in North America announced the release of Version 5.0 of their popular PoINT Jukebox Manager for Windows which integrates Optical Storage with RAID and SAN technologies to provide high capacity, high performance storage systems which meet the growing demand for fixed content data management.

Data Mirroring using Optical Storage

PoINT Jukebox Manager Version 5.0 offers an optional feature for Mirroring of media, in order to provide a higher level of data protection and security. With the new mirroring option, files are incrementally written to hard disc and two optical media. Contents of both media are synchronized with the data on the hard disc, and in the event of media write errors or failures, the bad disc is discarded and a new media is synchronized to the source data files. Mirrored media can be located in the same jukebox as the original media, or in a second jukebox which can also be located in a remote location using the Remote Connectivity option. This provides an ideal solution for disaster recovery.

PoINT Jukebox Manager Version 5.0 includes support for new Dual-Layer DVD drives and media. This newly standardized format provides increased capacity per DVD, nearly doubling the storage capacity of some DVD libraries. In addition these drives provide increased recording speeds with all DVD media.

Enhanced Dynamic Image Recording

Previous recording technologies used either disc at once recording, or packet writing. Dynamic Image Recording combines the benefits of disc at once recording with those of packet writing, while eliminating the previous drawbacks to either method. Within the Dynamic Image Recording Engine a hard disc stores a “dynamic image” file to which data can be written in a packet method. Once the capacity of a media surface is realized, the dynamic image is migrated transparently to an optical media. A new Incremental Dynamic Image mode sequentially writes data to both he Dynamic Image file on hard disc as well as to the target optical media assuring full regulatory compliance. Benefits of the system include a transparent file system without change of data path and complete automatic recovery from media failures. Performance advantages of Dynamic Image Recording provide data writing speeds which are 4-6 times faster than available using packet writing.

PoINT Jukebox Manager is an advanced software application, which manages data stored on Optical Jukeboxes to provide a compliant archival storage solution. It incorporates RAID and SAN storage devices to meet the writing and data access speeds required by the most demanding applications. PoINT Jukebox Manager supports all available optical drives and libraries from Asaca, BDT, DISC, Hewlett-Packard, JVC, Kubota, Pioneer, Plasmon, Powerfile and Sony with support for the latest optical devices including the new UDO and PDD Drives and Libraries. Version 5.0 also includes support for Windows™2003 Server, making it compatible with all current Microsoft™ server operating systems.
